Squidward receives a huge migraine from SpongeBob’s incessant laughter, so Squidward warns SpongeBob that he may never laugh again if he does not stop. SpongeBob thinks that he lost his laugh, and starts crying all the time. Squidward, tired of all the crying, tells him the truth and blows his laugh box out while laughing at his own joke. SpongeBob gives half of his laugh box to Squidward, causing him to laugh like SpongeBob.

SpongeBob and Squidward become fused together after going into Sandy’s new invention. They are so mixed up that Mr. Krabs tells them they can’t work at the Krusty Krab until they are back to normal. During Squidward’s clarinet concert, their disguise falls off and everybody becomes amazed at how they are morphed together but Sandy spoils the moment by sending the two back to their original form.
